With 3 of the XI going direct, that left 8 of us at the ruts. After sitting around for about half an hour waiting we realised all 8 of us were there so we set off following Salim.
Corbs won the toss and we were in the field and we held our minutes silence for Brian. With doddsy keeping wicket for the first time since his colts years I wasn't filled with confidence when opening up with Dwar. After a few overs I got the opener whose bat with diy sawn off edges didnt seem to do him any favours-corbey taking the catch at slip. Dwar had the other opener caught by doddsy and we had them about 15-2 after 10 or so.
Salim in a rare appearance for the club got in on the action after replacing dwar with two identical caught and bowls and then some truely comical slip fielding from corbey and roberts occured. After the number 3 looped one to slip, the bat making his way off the pitch and the scorers in the process of putting up 5 in the wickets column corbey proceeded to achieve the impossible and put it down. Roberts, proabably seeing 3 balls coming towards him after a heavy one the night before then spilled 2 more and one of the most annoying batsmen you'll find had marched on to double figures! Paper mache then showed them how to catch pouching him for 12 off what seemed an eternity and after Salim picked up his 3rd AHO were 66-6.
AHO then got a partnership going which saw them over 100 and after another drop from safehands roberts lever picked up 3 and tom donegan bagged himself one. AHO ao for 137 off 40.
Solid tea 6/7 good egg sandwiches and selection of cakes.
Corbs and Viyaser opened up and saw us off to a flyer. After about 8 overs the 50 was up. Corbey doing his usual try and hit every ball, ball fly in air, ball avoid fielder somehow act and got to 31 before his luck ran out and v was joined by piper smasher who came and went for 0 and we were 70odd for two. Vyaser brought up his 50 but soon departed and the mighty kapok joined kamran at the crease and we were making hard work of it after a solid start. Roberts' day was capped off with a painful duck and we'd got ourselves to 80odd for 4. Kamran and doddy settled down for a while and pretty much got us there with kamran departing late on leaving tom to finish on 6no and doddy 15odd no.
A pretty easy win in the end for the 4s against a team just below us in the standings going into the game. Wickets all shared around and apart from the drops not much wrong in the field. Highlights have to be the kapoks first appearance of the season as a whole really-top stuff. Well batted vyaser and on to the next game. |
